• In 2010, 537 WEEE Ireland members declared a battery obligation, an increase of almost 50%
  on 2009.
• 2010 saw the launch of the My Battery Recycling Box – 950,000 have been distributed to date.
• The continued success of the Big Blue Battery Box in retail outlets, workplaces, schools etc.
  saw over 100,000 distributed since the scheme began in September 2008.
• WEEE Ireland contractors carried out 1,543 direct collections of waste batteries.

The WEEE Ireland Battery Compliance Scheme was set up in September 2008. It is a vital component
of our organisation and it is run as an integrated part of the overall WEEE scheme involving staff from all WEEE departments.
